Staying Connected
Tucson Yoga communicates over email as much as possible, to save the costs of creating printed materials. We ask all students to please join our email list to help us communicate with you. Our emails include class schedule updates and information about workshops and special events. We are very respectful of your privacy, and we won't send more than 1-2 messages per month. You can also unsubscribe from this list at any time (instructions are included at the bottom of each message).

Class Guidelines

  • Mats - First-time students may borrow a mat for free at their first class.  After the first class, students are asked to bring their own mat to class.  If you don't have your own, you can rent one of ours for a $1 rental fee.  We also sell yoga mats for $18 and up.
  • Cell Phones - Please turn your cell phone off, or leave it at home or in your car.  (Note that the "vibrate" setting on most phones can usually be heard, so we prefer that phones are turned completely off).
  • Fragrances - Please do not wear perfumes or scented body care products - during deep breathing, these scents may be disturbing to your neighbors.
  • Arrival Time - Please plan to arrive at least 5 minutes before class begins, so that you're arranged in your space and ready to begin at the start time.  Plan extra time to navigate downtown traffic, especially during afternoon rush hour.
  • Lateness - If you're late and the opening meditation has already begun, please enter silently, sit quietly near the door, and wait until the opening meditation is complete before setting up your practice space. 
  • If you arrive very early, please wait outside quietly.  A previous class may still be in session.  Noise from outside, even out on the sidewalk in normal conversation tones, carries inside easily.  Students in meditation are often subjected to hearing an entire phone conversation outside by someone who has no idea that anyone's listening!  Thank you.
  • Courtesy in Full Classes - There are gray "mat guidelines" on our studio floor, and we use these lines in large classes.  When the room starts looking full, please align the front edge of your mat with the nearest line to help make room for everybody.
  • Is Class Full? - Our yoga studio holds 40 students at a time. If the sign-in sheet at the front desk is not full, then there's still room.  When you enter a large class, look for available gray mat guidelines on the floor, and don't be shy to ask someone to make room.
  • Valuables - Our lobby area contains cubby-holes where you can store your shoes, bags and clothing. However, this area is not secure from theft. Please do not leave any valuables - instead take them into the practice area with you. Tucson Yoga cannot take responsibility for lost or stolen items.
  • If you like smaller classes - Certain days and times are much less popular than others.  If you wish to seek out smaller classes, our 7:00am and 9:00am classes on weekdays are the best choice.  Evening and weekend classes are generally fuller, but the 7:00pm classes tend to be smaller than the 5:30pm classes.  Our most packed class every week is the Tuesday 5:30 Yin Yoga class.  All classes are fuller in January and February, which is the busy season.
  • Injuries and Illness - Please tell each instructor about any injuries or major illness (past or present) or physical limitations you have, so that s/he can offer you safety tips and alternative poses where necessary.
