We all know that laughter makes us feel good. Laughter Yoga is a new form of exercise that combines the proven benefits of laughter with simple yoga. This class combines laughter and breathing exercises, chanting and meditation.
Western science is just starting to discover the great effects of laughter. When we laugh our bodies release a cocktail of internal hormones and chemicals that have startling positive effects. Stress is reduced, blood pressure drops, depression is lifted and the immune system is boosted.
Laugher Yoga works best in a group. You don't need humor or comedy. It starts out with exercises that imitate laughter, and then the laughter almost always becomes real and spontaneous.
Founded 10 years ago by Indian Doctor Madan Kataria, Laughter Yoga has spread rapidly to 60 different countries. It has been featured on major networks including CNN, ABC, BBC, The Oprah Show and many print publications including TIME Magazine, National Geographic, New York Times and many more.
Level: Laughter Yoga is recommended for anyone, from the elderly to experienced yoga students. No yoga mat or props are needed - just bring yourself!
