The evening will be offered on a dana* basis, with 100% of the proceeds going to Native Seeds/SEARCH, a local organization focusing on on sustainable agriculture for the Southwest.
* Dana is the Sanskrit word for generosity, from which we get the word “donation.” It is the first of Six “Perfections” taught by the Buddha. In the spirit of dana, not even a “suggested donation” is asked for, but rather, you are asked to take advantage of this opportunity to practice wisdom, compassion, and appreciation by offering generously from the sheer joy of giving. The dharma is considered ‘priceless,’ so this is not a fee for services rendered, but rather a mutual opportunity to practice generosity. In the end, with the perfection of dana, one comes to see that there is not separation between the one who gives and the one who receives. That in fact, in giving one truly does receive, and in receiving, one also gives.
