Ann Curry

Ann has practiced yoga since 1999, and in 2004 became a yoga teacher certified through Wake Up Yoga in Philadelphia under Corina Benner.  She is a registered instructor with Yoga Alliance.

Since 2004 Ann has been attending advanced teacher trainings, studying Tibetan Heart Yoga at the Yoga Studies Institute with Geshe Michael Roach and Lama Christie McNally.  She has completed the first six series of their extensive Tibetan Heart Yoga teacher training.  She is a dedicated student of Diamond Mountain University, studying Buddhism, meditation, yoga, and retreat, including in-depth study of the Hatha Yoga Pradipika, which is one of the oldest surviving texts on Hatha Yoga.

"I have an interest in helping people who think, 'I can't do yoga.'  This has always been important to me and it's become even more so since I spent a good part of 2006-2007 in a lot of physical pain.  I grew up outside of Philadelphia, and was happy to find Wake Up Yoga's teacher training, which was where I met Michelle Marks.  As soon as I moved to Tucson in August 2004 her class at Tucson Yoga was one of the first things I did.  Teaching at Tucson Yoga has been a dream of mine and I am honored to have the opportunity."

Ann is a Physician Assistant with a Masters in Health Science, and she works with persons suffering from mental illness and substance abuse disorders.  She attended the University of New Hampshire for her undergraduate degree in Health Management and Policy, and she attended graduate school in Philadelphia at what is now Drexel University.

"I am very thankful to all of my Teachers," says Ann.  She's currently preparing for a three-year retreat, which is scheduled to begin in December 2010.
