About Tucson Yoga
Tucson's Community Yoga Center
Tucson Yoga is a community-oriented yoga studio offering low-cost, high-quality yoga classes at our 1150-square-foot downtown studio. Founded by Debbie Daly, Tucson Yoga is known as a friendly, down-to-earth,
non-competitive place to do yoga. With classes ranging from beginning
to advanced, and from gentle to vigorous, there's something for just
about everybody. Tucson Yoga embraces all styles
of yoga with a comprehensive, non-dogmatic approach.
The quality of teaching is not compromised by
the low price. Tucson Yoga's teachers are among the best in town, collectively
displaying superb credentials and many years of experience.
Our Mission
Tucson Yoga's mission is to
make good health and well-being through yoga affordable and accessible
to everyone. We promote on a well-rounded yoga practice
that goes beyond exercise to also encompass meditation, relaxation,
and mindfulness practice. Read more about our mindfulness
focus here.
Easier Access to Yoga
We're the first yoga studio in the country to have a focus on low-cost
yoga classes. Over the years this has helped bring yoga into the lives of thousands of people who never would have been able to enjoy its life-enhancing
benefits at standard prices. Since Tucson Yoga opened, several other reduced-cost "community yoga classes" have been added at local studios, and studio
owners in Phoenix, Sedona, and even Philadelphia have been inspired to
add low-cost classes after visiting our studio.
World-Wide Healing
We believe that spreading yoga to more people will help heal the world
holistically, one person at a time. With access to a regular spiritual
health practice, people are empowered to find fulfillment within,
and will cease to act in ways that are destructive to themselves,
to others, or to the earth and its sentient beings. This peace of
mind radiates into our interactions with others, truly bringing more
peace into our communities and into our world.
Our History
Tucson Yoga started out in 2003 renting by-the-hour from a dance studio,
with an initial investment of $200 for 18 cheap yoga mats and a bunch of flyers. There were
5 classes per week, all taught by Debbie. The classes
filled up, and more classes and teachers were gradually added until
we needed to find our own space. In 2004, we moved into our current studio downtown, and the studio's popularity skyrocketed, mainly through word-of-mouth. For the past three years, Tucson Yoga has been voted Tucson's favorite yoga
studio (2005-2007), with 10 teachers offering 20 classes per
week, and serving over 1,800 students per month.
